The Kamishak area underlain by a biotite-hornblende quartz dioritic porphyry intruding a hornblende gabbro body. The South breccia zone is approximately 30 to 50 meters wide and cut by a narrow malachite-stained fault zone and by many smaller sulfide- and magnetite-rich veins. The North Breccia zone is a pipe-like body consisting of a 150 meters long by 75 meters wide mineralized breccia zone that extends to at least 75 meters in depth. Mineralization consists of disseminations and veinlets, with a matrix filling of magnetite, chalcopyrite, and pyrite. Locally there is abundant biotite, strong silicification, and the presence of sercite-pyrite, and chlorite alteration. The zone appears to dip steeply to the northwest and may be truncated by one or more north-south faults. Regional magnetic data indicate the breccias occur entirely within a large (2500 by 3300 meters in diameter) magnetic high. The Kamishak breccias are situated on the eastern margin of this feature with minimal property or regional scale exploration in the vicinity.
Grab samples taken at the South Breccia zone taken during 2004 assayed up to 14.0 g/t Au and 0.30% Cu, in the vicinity of an old adit. The mineralization is hosted within a similar breccia to the South Breccia, occurring along the margin of the mafic intrusive complex. Aside from two samples taken, there is no other reported work on the South Breccia.
Andover Ventures Inc. believes that the Kamishak prospect and surrounding area hosts excellent potential to host a new discovery. There is a potential for over one mile of strike length if the north and south breccias are the same structure, however there has been no work performed to confirm this idea. Aside from the previous drilling, there is no known record of modern exploration in this area. |
